HOODS
There a few different options available when it comes to choosing a hood, firstly you could go for the traditional style of metal hood but this can pose a problem when it comes to salt score building up on the inside which eventually just corodes the metal, or you could opt for a wooden hood which you just need to make sure is properly sealed with non-toxic varnish, also ensure you use glass sliding lids, taking both these precautions will avoid warping of the wood. If you decide to go for a juwel system the hood is already built in with integrated lights they are also easy to make any extra holes in the back of to allow extra piping for external filters or a protein skimmer which will be used later on.
The last option is something totally different, Arcadia luminaires or pendant lighting are basically a big lighting unit that sits on the top of or above your tank forming a very stylish and effective hood. The only thing to remember would be if you are intending keeping any fish that have tendencies to jump, wrasses, anthias etc. you would have to use glass sliding lids aswell.
